Blessed Be the Name of the Lord

The funeral is over. Robyn’s earthly tent has been laid to rest. Family and friends have dispersed. Left over food and flowers have been brought home. A season is over. A chapter is done. Life will change. But now it’s time to rest and reflect.

I’m grateful. Grateful for a wonderful wife. Grateful for the body of Christ. Grateful for a funeral that was so honoring of the Lord and all while honoring my dear wife.

And I’m grateful that while much will change, one thing will not. Christ is Lord. He is sovereign over all. He loves and cares for His sheep. He deserves all worship and praise. His wrath will be unquenchable and will come one day. His mercy is great and new every morning.

He is good. He is Lord. He has every right to do all He pleases. What He chooses cannot be stopped. What He does is always good. Nothing today changed any of that.

Nothing.

God is good. Even now. Especially now. Praise His Holy name.

If you are married, hug your spouse. If you have kids, hug them too. If you have parents, call them and tell them you love them. Be grateful to God for all He has done in your life. What can we say about this? The funeral? The loss? The difficulty? What shall we say?

“The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21)

He is good friends, He is good.
